The Spiral Journey Home Begins
Why ChangeMakers Need Ancient Wisdom for Modern Times
Something has been stirring in me for months - a deep knowing that the world needs a different kind of ChangeMaking. Not the reactive, burnout-inducing activism that fragments movements and exhausts good people, but something rooted, seasonal, and sustainable.
That something is Spiralling Home, and it begins this Tuesday, 23 September, with the Mabon cycle - six weeks exploring "The Harvest of Difficult Feelings."
Why Now? Why This?
We're living through times of unprecedented upheaval. Political systems are cracking, climate disasters are intensifying, and social divisions feel insurmountable. If you're someone who cares deeply about our world - someone who hasn't looked away from Gaza, Ukraine, rising fascism, or ecological collapse - you've likely accumulated what therapists call "secondary trauma."
Our culture offers plenty of solutions: scroll more news to "stay informed," post reactive responses, throw money at symptoms, wait for the next election to fix everything. But these Silver Bullet approaches remove your agency from the healing process. They promise that something external will solve the problem FOR you rather than WITH you.
The ancient wisdom of the Cauldron offers a different path.
The Spiral Path: Four Homes, Eight Seasons
Spiralling Home follows the Wheel of the Year - eight seasonal cycles that connect natural rhythms to ChangeMaker challenges and opportunities. Each 6-week cycle explores one major theme through the lens of the Four Homes:
Body Home (Safety): Building embodied awareness and nervous system regulation
Community Home (Belonging): Creating connections that amplify individual efforts into collective impact
Planet Home (Purpose): Finding your ecological place and regenerative purpose
Cosmos Home (Meaning): Connecting to something larger than immediate concerns
This isn't self-help dressed up as activism. It's the recognition that your own embodiment, nervous system regulation, and inner clarity directly support your capacity for sustained, effective action in the world. Working on yourself IS your essential contribution to global transformation.
The Mabon Cycle: Processing What We've Witnessed
Our first cycle begins with Mabon - the autumn equinox - when nature begins her great harvest. While most of us experience September as a frantic return to busyness, the seasonal wisdom invites us to slow down and process the "emotional crop" we've accumulated from this year of witnessing global crisis.
Over six weeks, we'll explore:
Week 1: "The Harvest of Difficult Feelings" - recognising when we're reaching for quick fixes versus sustainable transformation
Week 2: Body Home - learning to feel and release rather than pushing through
Week 3: Community Home - gathering around the fire for collective processing
Week 4: Planet Home - moving beyond reactive activism toward regenerative action
Week 5: Cosmos Home - connecting to seven-generation wisdom and deeper meaning
Week 6: Integration and preparation for the next cycle
Building the Community We Need
Here's what I know after 20+ years of ChangeMaking across four continents: individual transformation becomes collective change when we do it in community with others. The most effective ChangeMakers aren't the ones with the biggest platforms - they're the ones who've done their inner work, built genuine relationships, found their unique contribution, and connected their efforts to something larger than themselves.
This community is for:
Inside Innovators creating change within organisations and institutions
Purpose Driven Founders starting new ventures and social enterprises
Bridge-Building Connectors organising neighbours and facilitating collaboration
Frontline Activists leading movements for social and environmental justice
Steady Contributors supporting consistently from behind-the-scenes
Whether you're a corporate executive rethinking your company's purpose or a 20-year-old climate activist building your first campaign, if you're committed to regenerating people, places, and planet, this is your community.
What We're Working Towards
The challenges ahead require ChangeMakers who can sustain themselves for the long haul. We need people who can hold complexity without fragmenting, who can stay grounded in hope whilst facing hard truths, who can build movements that don't burn through committed leaders faster than they can replace them.
We're building a community of embodied ChangeMakers who understand that:
Sustainable transformation happens in spirals, not straight lines
Seasonal rhythms support rather than hinder our impact work
Individual healing and collective action are inseparable
Ancient wisdom has practical applications for modern challenges
Together, we're creating the foundations for ChangeMaking that can meet this moment and carry us through whatever comes next.
